Services

Career Advising

We offer 60-minute virtual career advising sessions. During your first appointment, we will assess your current situation, identify your specific needs, and create a personalized roadmap that aligns with your goals. Students will receive homework to complete between sessions, and the cost includes unlimited email and text support between appointments. And if you're a parent, we'll keep you informed every step of the way. Our services include:

  • Choosing the right major for your future

  • Exploring career paths that align with your goals

  • Crafting standout resumes and cover letters

  • Developing a strategic job and internship search plan

  • Maximizing your LinkedIn presence

  • Preparing for interviews and negotiating offers

  • Leveraging the capabilities of AI to enhance essential job search skills

Investment: The cost for three career advising sessions is $450. Following your initial three sessions, you can continue with additional appointments available at the same rate--three for $450 or, if preferred, $180 for individual hours. We’ve found that students achieve the best results with three to six sessions, allowing us to effectively address specific challenges and provide ongoing support as we implement personalized plans.

Career Boot Camps

Online portfolios are critical for many creative careers and industries. Unfortunately, some colleges and universities don’t help students or soon-to-be graduates who need to build an online portfolio that stands out amongst other applicants for competitive internships and entry-level jobs. Whether you need to create an online portfolio or have created one and need it reviewed, we can help.

Career Readiness Webinars

A decision-making report that will help parents and their students make an informed decision about which colleges would be better for the career success of their students. Reports include:

  • A report on the success rate of students getting internships and jobs after college by the majors the college-bound student is considering.

  • A summary of career services the college offers students and graduates.

  • A list of employers that hire from the college/university.

  • After the report is completed, they’ll get a copy of it and a complimentary 1:1 session to discuss report findings.

 Why Work With Us?

Experience

We have nearly two decades of experience in career advising college-age students, providing individual and customized advice for students and their parents. We can help students explore options and gather information and data so they can make confident decisions about their future career path. We also work with recent graduates to transition from classroom to career.

Dedication

We're completely dedicated to our clients' success. No matter where you are in college, your major, or your experience level so far, we will meet you where you are. We're fully committed to helping students (while partnering with parents) successfully start preparing for their careers while in college and launching their careers after graduating.

Integrity

Unfortunately, we have seen a lack of integrity and effort within colleges to fully prepare their students for career success, leaving students and parents feeling frustrated, unsupported, and lacking clear direction. We’re changing that by providing experienced, customized career advising for students (while partnering with parents) so students successfully transition from classroom to career.

Career Advising FAQs

The career center at my college provides free career services. Why should I pay for a career advisor?

College career centers often struggle to provide the personalized and individualized services we offer. Typically, there is only one college career advisor for thousands of students, leading to long appointment wait times and difficulty getting important questions answered quickly. While college career advisors may provide general advice, they often lack the specialized knowledge that we possess. As a result, students who rely solely on their college career center frequently feel frustrated, lost, and uncertain about their next steps.

At 1 East, we provide personalized one-on-one support and advice to save time and help you confidently achieve your career goals. You can schedule an appointment with us within just a few days, and as our client, you’ll receive prompt answers to your questions. We will also create a tailored career roadmap that outlines the steps to take, giving you clear direction and confidence moving forward. And as former career center advisors, we can also guide you in making the most of the free career resources available at your college, such as career fairs and networking events. We are committed to helping you develop a clear career plan to successfully transition you from the classroom to your dream career.

Can you get me a job or internship?

While we are not a placement agency and do not guarantee employment, we work our hardest with every one of our clients to provide customized services that will help your child find and launch their dream career. Working together, we will work to help your student transition from college to career.

How long will it take to get a job or internship?

If your student puts in the effort we ask, we estimate about 3-4 months. It may take less time, too. 3-4 months is less than the 6-month average it can take to find a job or internship on your own. We also understand that for financial reasons, sometimes you need a job right away. We can work with you so that, if necessary, your student can find a relevant job that helps build their resume while working towards that dream job.

I need to update my resume or LinkedIn profile.

Rewriting resumes and updating LinkedIn profiles are part of the work we will do, whether it’s through our signature program or a one-time session. Unlike a company or "certified professional resume writer" who writes it all for you, we believe it’s important to partner with your child to help them understand the reasoning behind our changes and suggestions. Our philosophy is we don’t want to just rewrite a resume for a client—we want our clients to learn how to rewrite it themselves too.

I'm unsure about my major or what to do for a career. Can you help?

Yes. We will work with your student to explore options and help gather information and data so they can make confident decisions about their future career path. We have successfully worked with all college majors and love working with students to help them achieve their career goals and dreams.

What is your appointment cancellation policy?

We take pride in providing excellent service to our clients and understand that unexpected situations can arise. We kindly request that any cancellations or appointment changes be made 24 hours in advance. If less than 24 hours notice is given, we reserve the right to charge 50% of the appointment cost.
